Ayran, also known as doogh, is a yogurt-based drink popular in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It is usually consumed as part of the breakfast during the summer.
Ingredients
- 1 part yogurt (2 parts if you prefer a creamier variety)
- 1 part ice-cold water
- salt
- mint (optional)
- basil (optional)
Directions
- Combine the yogurt and the ice-cold water.
- Mix well until no clumps remain.
- Add salt to taste.
- The traditional way to drink it is plain, but you can add some additional flavours with chopped mint or basil.
